Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones was the younger sister of media producer, mogul Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. Kidada Jones is her elder sibling. There are five half-siblings from her father's other relationships. Her father is African American, and her mother Ashkenazi Jewish (a descendant from emigrants from Russia and Latvia). Rashida was raised in Reform Judaism. She was born in Bel Air, Los Angeles. Jones declared that her mixed race parentage was not accepted by the general public until the 1970s. Jones began her professional acting career was on The Last Don (1997) the mini-series based on Mario Puzo's novel. Rashida completed her studies at Harvard University in 1997. Kidada Jones was the ring bearer for her sister's engagement and she sang as the vocalist in the Tupac Shakur tribute track. Kidada and Rashida were recorded by Quincy Jones III, the brother of Quincy Jones III. Quincy Jones III was present in the introduction and recited the lines of Shakur's poem "Starry Night." The poem is the source of the title of the song. Rashida's father is African American, as well as having smaller amounts of English, Scottish, and Welsh ancestral ancestry (some of his African family members were descendants of the Tikar people from Cameroon). Her mother, Rashida, is Ashkenazi Jewish (of Russian Jewish and Latvian Jewish descent). Her maternal grandparents, who both came from South Carolina, and Mississippi as her paternal grandparents. Her maternal grandfather was born in New York, and her maternal grandmother was born in Dublin, Ireland, of Eastern European Jewish origin. In the year 2009, she had played three different characters in the show, including "Karen" in the iconic sitcoms on TV: Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella ((2005) and The Office ((2005)).
