Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff is a French actress, was born 3 May 1986. She received her training at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris and has been featured in films like Loup (2009), Sleepless Night (2011) and Hacker's Game (2015). She portrays the role of Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. (2017). Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the child of two parents: a Korean mother and an American-Russian father. Her father was a consul in Quebec City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff, a painter, was her grandfather. Her parents picked the name "Pom" because it's like the Korean words for both "spring" and "tiger". Klementieff stayed in Canada for a short time before her family traveled extensively because of her father's job. They resided in Japan and the Ivory Coast, before settling in France. Klementieff's father died of cancer at the age of 5, and her mother had schizophrenia and was incapable of caring for children and so Klementieff was cared for by her aunt and uncle who were paternal. Her uncle, who she described as "like her father", died when she turned 18 and her older brother committed suicide just seven years later, this occasion being her birthday. Klementieff briefly went to law school after her uncle's death in order to please her aunt, however she didn't find the profession path appealing. She was also salesperson and waitress in France. At the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris she started acting when she was 19. She was just a few months into her studies when she was awarded a theater contest that granted the opportunity to take two years of free classes with some of the most renowned teachers in the school. Klementieff's first professional acting job was the French independent film Apres lui (2007), as the stepdaughter of the lead character, which was played by Catherine Deneuve. The filming process took three days. One scene featured Klementieff pushing someone down the set stairs, but she fell. Gael Morel saved that scene for the film that was to be released. Loup (2009) was which is a French film about Siberian reindeer herders was her debut significant role. She was filming in an isolated camp, which was a few hours from the closest village.
