Patricia Velásquez
Creativity goes beyond films, canvas and photos. It also serves as an inspiration for philanthropy, charity and activism. Patricia Velasquez, an award-winning model, actress, and historian an ardent philanthropist, a fervent activist, as well as mother of two, brings an unwavering creative drive in everything she does whether that's appearing in blockbusters such as The Curse of La Llorona or launching the Wayuu Taya Foundation, and being as a member of the UNESCO Board. She relies on her intuition and designs her own path and is making huge strides. She states, "I see my career as a long ladder." "I completed every step. It was amazing to accomplish this, as there was a lot of perseverance. I just laid my head down and took one step at a time. Then, it was done. This analogy is reminiscent of an experience that was a formative one. After a couple of years she relocated to Venezuela. She was born in Venezuela and was raised in France and Mexico. Parents who were employed as teachers in South America, moved her family into a cramped home without water and elevators. Patricia carried 15 steps up using heavy buckets in order to supply water to the building. She tried to assist her family in any way she could despite her engineering studies and a rigorous dance program. Her promise to her family members, which was the crucial factor in her rise to the top of the fashion industry, led to her being sought out to model in Milan. She recalls being invited to visit Italy to model for the fashion industry. "If I could pay thirty dollars a month back to Venezuela that would be worthwhile because it will cover all the water used in the structure." Patricia's accomplishment was a significant moment in fashion since she was able to draw attention to South America for first time. Following her becoming "the first Karl Lagerfeld model ever photographed" She went on to appear in editorial spreads as well as advertisements for the front of Chanel as well as Dolce & Gabbana. She also appeared in Oprah's "Supermodel of the World Contest" with Ford Models. She also appeared on the pages of Marie Claire, Bazaar and Vogue.
